July 31, 2025

HSWERX, the Homeland Security Innovation Hub, in partnership with S&T’s Technology Transfer and Commercialization (T2C) Branch, hosted the U.S. Coast Guard’s (USCG) Enterprise Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) Collaboration Event in Washington, DC. The event brought together 77 participants from 52 organizations, making it HSWERX’s largest in-person gathering to date.

Through HSWERX’s proven collaborative methods, attendees shaped 19 key problem statements and identified more than 100 ideas to breakthrough implementation barriers. The effort was remarkable for its fast turnaround, from kickoff to launch in under a week, underscoring T2C’s drive to meet pressing mission demands without delay.

“This landmark event proved what’s possible when T2C, USCG, and HSWERX combine leadership, mission focus, and rapid collaboration to deliver real-world solutions quickly and effectively,” said Craig Zamary, HSWERX director.

Next steps will include refining outcomes and developing clear criteria for a potential follow-on assessment event, bringing best-of-breed capabilities into the hands of DHS end users.

The Enterprise GenAI Collaboration Event was led by Commander (CDR) Jonathan White, Cloud and Data branch chief within USCG’s C5ISC Infrastructure Services Division; and Kalpana Reddy, T2C branch chief.
