Types of Opportunities with HSWERX
Collaboration Event (CE)

DHS End Users, Industry, Academia and National Labs participate in design thinking sessions to ideate on specific challenge areas and develop actionable plans for effective implementation to achieve their goals.

Assessment Event (AE)

DHS gives HSWERX specific challenges to solve and HSWERX utilizes its ecosystem and market research to attract best-of-breed submissions to solve the problem. DHS then reviews the submissions and selects participants with the highest value to present and/or demonstrate their capability in a one-on-one session with DHS stakeholders.

Government Only Collaboration Event (CE)

DHS End Users and other government entities participate in design thinking sessions to ideate on specific challenge areas and develop actionable plans for effective implementation to achieve their goals.

Q&A Session

Solution offerors can ask DHS stakeholders and end users technical or submission-related questions before submitting a white paper. Q&A sessions take place about two weeks before submissions to an Assessment Event close.

Technology Demonstrations

HSWERX can facilitate technology demonstrations for innovators to showcase their capabilities to end users. This informs DHS end users of state of the art solutions.

Announcement of HSWERX events that are considered to have high potential for further efforts that may be accomplished via FAR-based contracting instruments, Other Transaction Authority (OTA) for Research Projects, 10 USC 4021 and Prototype Projects 10 USC 4022, Prizes for advanced technology achievements 10 USC 4025, and/or Prize Competitions 15 USC 3719, may be made at the www.hswerx.org and/or www.teamwerx.org website(s). All announcements made at the www.hswerx.org and/or www.teamwerx.org website(s) are considered to satisfy the reasonable effort to obtain competition in accordance with 10 USC 4025, 15 USC 3719 (e) and 10 USC 4022. All FAR-based actions will follow announcement procedures per FAR 5.201(b) accordingly.

Determined to bridge this gap, HSWERX was formed as a non-profit 501c3 entity. Our purpose was clear, to be the catalyst that accelerates innovative solutions' discovery, engagement, and implementation. We wanted to bring together the government and various solution providers, from established industries to small mom-and-pop shops, ensuring that the best ideas reached the top.

We opened previously closed doors by hosting collaborative events and facilitating direct dialogues. We transformed how the government interacted with potential solution providers, creating an ecosystem where ideas could be shared, refined, and implemented without the usual delays.

Moreover, our unique non-FAR-based approach allowed us to cut through the government red tape. This meant that innovative solutions could be swiftly transitioned from conception to realization, ensuring that our homeland was always equipped with the latest and best tools for its defense.

Today, HSWERX is a testament to what can be achieved when passion, vision, and purpose converge. Our journey reminds us that innovation can and will thrive in adversity, ensuring a safer and brighter future for all.
